The bare fiber is protected by ointment, a PBT loose tube, Kevlar strength members and an outer jacket, with no metal components anywhere in the structure. This suits high-voltage and strong electromagnetic environments where metal armoring would be a liability. The gel-filled PBT tube provides water blocking and mechanical protection, while the flame-retardant jacket supports dependable temperature and stress measurement for distributed temperature sensing systems.
