Overview

The FT-1251 from F-tone Networks is a multi-service fiber multiplexer that carries voice, E1, Ethernet and serial traffic over a single optical link. It provides 1 to 16 telephone ports and 1 to 4 E1 interfaces, plus four 10/100M Ethernet switch ports running at line rate with VLAN support. Four extension service ports accept RS232, RS485 or RS422 asynchronous data, voice, 2/4-wire E&M audio, dry-contact signals or 2M Ethernet, so one chassis can consolidate several legacy and IP services. The electrical section uses an all-digital design for low power consumption and high integration, and the whole unit fits a 19-inch 1U rack enclosure.
