Overview

Metro aggregation collects traffic from dozens of access sites into a few hub locations. The FT-XFP-10G-80KM-1470 from F-tone Networks serves that hub-and-spoke pattern on the 1470 nm CWDM channel, reaching 80 km at 9.95 to 11.1 Gbps. Each spoke gets its own wavelength, so new sites join the aggregation layer by lighting a fresh channel on the existing mux rather than re-engineering the ring. The XFP form factor keeps hub port costs manageable as spokes multiply. For operators consolidating access traffic toward metro cores, this 80 km tier covers the outer suburbs and neighboring towns in a single hop.
