Overview

The FT-BIDI-15 is a 622 Mbps 1x9 bidirectional optical transceiver with an SC connector for single-fiber links from 60 to 100 km. Wavelength-division diplexing carries transmit and receive traffic on one fiber strand through 1310/1550 nm or 1490/1550 nm pairs, selected by distance option, so operators double span capacity without new fiber builds. It draws from a 3.3 V supply and presents an LVPECL electrical interface compatible with legacy SONET/SDH line cards. EMC-CLASS A shielding with a metal-shielded plastic housing suits central-office and street-cabinet environments. F-tone Networks offers the FT-BIDI-15 to extend STM-4 services across metro access and rural routes where fiber counts are limited.
