Overview

The FT-BIDI-14 is a 622 Mbps 1x9 bidirectional optical transceiver with an FC connector, designed for long-reach single-fiber links from 60 to 100 km. Wavelength-division diplexing sends and receives on one fiber strand, using 1310/1550 nm or 1490/1550 nm pairs depending on the distance option, which halves fiber consumption on metro and rural routes. The module runs from a 3.3 V supply with an LVPECL electrical interface to match legacy SONET/SDH line cards. EMC-CLASS A shielding in a metal-shielded plastic housing supports electrically noisy environments. F-tone Networks positions the FT-BIDI-14 as a cost-effective way to extend STM-4 services across long access spans without laying new fiber.
