Overview

Adding 10-gigabit services to an existing fiber plant rarely requires new cable — it requires another wavelength. The FT-SFPPLUS-10G-10KM-1270 places 10G client traffic on a 1270 nm coarse wavelength division multiplexing channel, letting operators light additional 10G services on single-mode fiber already in the ground. In the hot-pluggable SFP+ package, this 10 km module runs at 9.95 to 11.1 Gbps, covering the standard 10G client range in the O-band. It belongs to the CWDM-SFP10G-FM series, which offers 10, 20, 40, 60 and 80 km reaches on one channel plan, simplifying sparing across the network. For campuses and metro-edge sites needing an economical way to multiply fiber capacity, this is a practical first step into CWDM transport.
