Overview

The F-tone Networks FT-SFP-1G-80KM is a CWDM SFP transceiver designed for long-distance Gigabit Ethernet transport. It supports data rates up to 1.25 Gbps and reaches up to 80 km, which suits metro aggregation and regional backbones that span multiple cities. Using coarse wavelength-division multiplexing, it lets operators combine several gigabit services onto a single fiber pair, cutting fiber leasing and trenching costs. The module fits any standard SFP slot, so it drops into existing switches, routers, and transport shelves without a platform refresh. It is a practical way to add capacity on fiber routes that already exist, extending service reach while keeping outside-plant investment under control.
