Overview

Replacing a failed DWDM optic should not require a maintenance window of negotiations. The FT-101492 from F-tone Networks is a 10G XFP module fixed on the C41 channel at 1544.53 nm, compliant with SFP+ MSA alongside CPRI and eCPRI, so it seats into standard XFP cages without platform-specific firmware. The EML transmitter covers 80 km at -1 to +4 dBm, LC duplex keeps the fiber plant untouched, and power stays under 1.5 W. DOM support lets the NOC confirm the replacement is healthy within minutes of insertion. For spares pools and multi-vendor estates, a standards-based C41 optic reduces both inventory and risk.
