Overview

The FT-QSFP28-BIDI-80KR stretches 100 Gb/s Ethernet to 80 kilometers on a single strand of single-mode fiber. It transmits at 1273 nm and receives at 1310 nm through one simplex LC connector, with the matching reverse-direction module (transmit 1310 nm, receive 1273 nm) installed at the far end. This complementary pairing keeps the link on a single fiber instead of two, halving fiber use across long-haul spans. The QSFP28 hot-pluggable housing slots into standard 100G ports and carries the full 100 Gb/s rate. For operators running metro or regional links where duct space and fiber leases are limited, the 80KR removes the need for a second strand without sacrificing reach.
