Overview

The FT-1000M-1550-15 links 10/100/1000 Mbps copper Ethernet to dual-fiber 1550 nm single-mode optics, extending Gigabit Ethernet across spans of up to 80 km. At 1550 nm the fiber attenuation is at its lowest, which gives this converter a comfortable margin on long point-to-point routes where 1310 nm optics would fall short. Dual-fiber transmission separates the transmit and receive paths for stable full-duplex operation. The unit is a straightforward way for carriers, utilities and large enterprises to join distant Ethernet segments into one network without protocol conversion or new fiber construction.
