1.25G GBIC CWDM 19dB Optical Transceiver

Overview

The FT-4185 is a 1.25 Gbps CWDM GBIC transceiver built for multiplexed single-mode links, rated at a 19 dB optical power budget. As part of a coarse wavelength division multiplexing system, it lets several independent 1.25 Gbps channels share one fiber pair through passive mux/demux units — multiplying capacity without laying new cable.

The 19 dB budget defines how much span loss, connector and splice margin the link can tolerate, and it suits shorter CWDM drops such as metro access tails and campus aggregation. Housed in the hot-swappable GBIC package, the module slots into existing equipment and joins the CWDM grid alongside its channel neighbors.
