1.25G GBIC 850nm 550m Optical Transceiver

Overview

The FT-550M-850 is a 1.25 Gbps GBIC optical transceiver for 850 nm multimode links of up to 550 m. It is the natural fit for in-building fiber: data-center aisles, floor-to-floor risers and campus distribution closets, where installed multimode plant already reaches every rack.

Short-reach 850 nm optics keep per-port cost low, which matters when hundreds of ports light up at once. The hot-swappable GBIC package seats into existing switch and media-converter slots, so operators extend Gigabit Ethernet or Fibre Channel service across the building without new line cards or single-mode upgrades.
