0-40dB Single-Channel Mini MEMS Variable Optical Attenuator

The FT-3950 is a single-channel mini MEMS variable optical attenuator designed for dynamic power management in optical networks. It uses an electrostatic MEMS chip with a movable mirror on silicon: the mirror reflects the input beam onto the output fiber, and the applied voltage tilts the mirror to control attenuation continuously from 0 to 40 dB. The miniature TO46 hermetic package combines low insertion loss, low polarization dependent loss and high attenuation accuracy. A 6.5 V drive voltage and 5 ms response enable precise, real-time optical power adjustment in compact assemblies.
