Overview

The FT-980-18 is a 980 nm superluminescent diode (SLED) broadband light source delivering 1.5 mW of output power. SLED devices combine the broad emission spectrum of an LED with the higher brightness of a laser diode, producing a smooth spectrum with low coherence and low ripple. That makes the source well suited to measurements that need high dynamic range and stable output over time. The FT-980-18 serves fiber optic sensing systems, fiber Bragg grating interrogation, optical component testing and laboratory characterization setups. It provides a dependable broadband seed source wherever a 980 nm band reference light is required.
