1-Core 1960/2000 µm Step-Index PMMA Plastic Optical Fiber, 3.8 mm Single Jacket

The FT-C2000-1 from F-tone Networks is a 1-core step-index PMMA plastic optical fiber with a 1960 µm core and 2000 µm cladding inside a 3.8 mm single PE jacket. It operates in the 650 nm visible wavelength range with attenuation of ≤200 dB/km, and works from -45 °C to +75 °C. The larger core eases coupling to light sources and receivers, while the plastic construction stays lightweight, flexible, immune to electromagnetic interference and waterproof. Lengths can be cut to requirement on site without special tools or fusion splicing, keeping maintenance cost low. It suits visible-light data links across homes, offices, vehicles, industrial control systems and military communications where a rugged low-cost fiber is needed for short reaches.
