The FT-3-8MM is a single-fiber step-index PMMA plastic optical fiber cable with a large 1960 micron core for easy handling and alignment. The 2000 micron fluorinated polymer cladding and 3.8 mm PE single jacket make it a rugged, low-cost medium for visible-light links at 650 nm. Attenuation is at most 200 dB/km, the numerical aperture is 0.5, and the core refractive index is 1.492. Like all PMMA POF, it is immune to electromagnetic interference, lightweight, flexible and simple to terminate without precision tools. It suits data transmission, FTTH, home and office networks, automotive applications, and industrial control and monitoring. Operating temperature spans -45 to +75 C, and the minimum order length is 350 m.
